Are you concerned that:
- people have been evicted from their homes and homelessness has skyrocketed?
- sometimes the city seems unsafe?
- it is increasingly difficult to raise a family in the city due to the cost of living?
- young people are being forced to move out of the city because of the cost of housing?
- transit is increasingly over-crowded and inadequate to serve the population?
- our tax dollars are being spent irresponsibly and decisions are being made undemocratically?
- we are losing arts, recreation and cultural spaces?
- confidence that our elected leaders are making decisions in the best interest of residents is at an all-time low?
We are a group of concerned citizens from a variety of backgrounds and political viewpoints. We are nonpartisan, non-heirarchical and we are open to any and all who want to help this movement grow.
You've seen our vision on the Learn and Act pages, read some of our Blog posts and participated in a mini-assembly. If you want to do more to make Vancouver more democratic and responsive to its citizens, email us at assemblevancouver@proton.me to discuss joining our organizing team.
If you have time, we're especially looking for
- those with a passion for social media or who live in neighbourhoods of the city we haven't got any participation from yet.
- Volunteers to help run assemblies, door knock, poster and hand out flyers,
If you have time, we'd love to put you to work.
If don't, but you have a bit of extra cash hanging around, any amount, small or large, will help us to rent space, provide childcare and have good nutritious food at our assemblies.
